HYDRO

The Hydro, hydrogen storage station project was born out of a collaboration between French National Scientific Research Centre (CNRS) researcher and fuel cell specialist Christophe Turpin and designer Pierre Favresse. Designed for home use, Hydro provides the missing link between natural energy and in-house storage. It is capable of providing enough electricity for four people living space of 100m2 and can also supply domestic hot water on a second circuit, putting users at the heart of their own energy production and management process. From a design point of view, the object is somewhat reminiscent of a modernised industrial landscape and has an inherent transparency that allows the user to follow the innovative process inside.  Hydro has also spawned a series of compatible household electrical appliances that go from lamps to washing machines.
